Rust and Bone

Rust and Bone is a France movie (2012), which I liked about this movie is because of the beautiful woman, Marion Cotillard. She is not only beautiful but she is also good at acting because of his brilliance in acting and he gets an Oscar in 2007.

Adapted from the short story by Canadian author Craig Davidson, Rust and Bone, entitled original de rouille et d'os is a French film that has attracted a lot of praise when it is opened in Cannes last May. Especially for dramatic performance Marion Cotillard who also gets a lot of buzz Best Actress Oscar next year, and is touted as the best role after La Vie En Rose (2007).

Alain or Ali (Matthias Schoenaerts) coming from Belgium to France with her 5-year-old son, Sam (Armand Verdure). He was riding in his sister's place. Ali soon got a job as a night watchman club, and met Stephanie (Marion Cotillard) who got into a fight in the club and drove tersebut.Ia also help Stephanie home. Brief introduction can not be called memorable because Ali's comments are likely to bluntly about how to dress Stephanie. Before returning Ali to leave his number for Stephanie.

Stephanie itself is a whale trainer at Marine Land, a kind of whale breeding and show. One time at the show, there was a fatal accident involving a whale suddenly Stephanie brutal and change lives forever. He lost both legs, lost his job, and more painful, had to live like that. In the midst of depression and loneliness, he contacted Ali. Their friendship soon grew, emotional and physical relationship, giving spirit with each other. But their relationship may seem complicated when Ali did not really feel an emotional bond with Stephanie.

Rust and Bone glance looks like a movie tear-jeaker. But Audiard intelligently made film is not sentimental. Rather than focusing on the lingering misery Stephanie, this movie is more convenient to show how two people are exactly alike this unstable form their strange relationship. Visually, many shot in this film that looks beautiful and attractive. Sometimes poetic and full of violence elsewhere. My favorite is Stephanie reunion scene with pope after the accident, which ended with Stephanie standing in front of a giant aquarium with only a blue water background (beautiful!). Unfortunately, I was personally a little less happy with the way the movie ends. The ending feels too manipulative and in a hurry.

Actually, this film focuses more on Ali, but Marion Cotillard as Stephanie was the heart of this film. He displays a damaged soul through intense expressions and body language are very convincing and on the other side featuring the characters who tend to be hard and Stephanie did not want to be pitied. Matthias Schoenaerts also worthy of praise featuring the figure of Ali are hard and tend to be difficult to relate to the people around him but keep a sort of tenderness behind the dark side. Chemistry Cotillard and Schoenaerts also woke up nicely throughout the film.
